Does your HP have a Slimtype DVD A DS8AZH drive?
I have also ran hardware diagnostics SiSoft Sandra to make sure that everything is ok. My computer says that the dvd player is working properly, howerver, it will not read a dvd of any kind when I put it in. The “built in” recovery using f11 only freezes the laptop. I’ve burn the recovery DVD-Rs really cheap yp, it can’t get worse than those and I’ve burned CD-RWs also really old and generic brand, can’t be worse than those either.

I have attempted to teach myself the intricacies of editing the system registry, however I am uncomfortable continuing on this path, as my proficiency in this area is lacking, and I don’t want to complicate matters if that step is unnecessary.
Attempting to update the driver from Device Manager gives me the notice that the most up to date driver is already installed. I simply ask the question to try to see if others who have this drive which I also have have found the drive to function well and that, hopefully, is the reason I haven’t read much about it.
