Method 1 – Copy and paste the XML file from another system:

Stop the McAfee Framework service:

  • First, you need to search and copy FrameworkManifest.xml file on another system where the McAfee VirusScan is working fine.
  • Now paste the FrameworkManifest.xml file in an external drive or portable media and then eject it from the system.
  • Insert the portable device on your system and then click on the start button.
  • Press R key while holding the Windows key to open the Run dialog box.
  • Now type “services.msc” and press enter then right click on the McAfee Framework Service in the service manager.
  • Now click Stop, in order to stop the McAfee Framework service.

Copy and paste the XML file:

  • Copy the FrameworkManifest.xml file from the portable media and then paste it into the framework directory.
  • Framework directory is – C:\Program Files\McAfee\Common Framework.
  • Now click Start button and type cmd in the search box and press enter, to register the file.
  • You are now required to type Regsvr32.exe <File path>\<File name> and press enter.
  • In the above step file path is the complete path of the file in the system and filename is the full name with extension.
  • Now click Ok, in order to confirm the registration of the file on the affected system.
  • Click the Start button and open the service manager by using the run dialog box to start the McAfee Framework service.
  • Now restart the system and then try reinstalling the update.

Method 2 – Register DLL file in McAfee Common framework and Windows system32 folder:

Stop the McAfee Services:

  • Click on the start button, select program from the list and then click McAfee.
  • Now select VirusScan, and from the list right click on the Access Protection then click Properties.
  • Uncheck the checkbox in front of the Prevent McAfee Service from being stopped, click Apply and then close the console.

Stop McAfee Framework Service:

  • Click on the start button from the bottom left corner of the screen and then open the Run dialog box.
  • Press Windows key + R together to open the Run dialog box, type “service.msc” and then click Ok.
  • Now right click on the McAfee Framework Service and click Stop then close the Service manager.

Register the DLL file in McAfee Common framework folder:

  • First, you need to click on the start button, type cmd in the search box then click Ok.
  • In the command prompt type cd \Program Files\McAfee\Common Framework and then hit enter.
  • Now type “for %m in (*.dll) do regsvr32 /s %m”, press enter and then wait to re-register the dll file.

Registering DLL file in Windows System32 folder:

  • In the command prompt type, “CD %SystemRoot%\System32” and press enter in order to navigate the System32 folder.
  • Now type the command “for %m in (*.dll) do regsvr32 /s %m” again and press enter.
  • Wait until the registration process is finished and then close the command prompt.

Restart the McAfee Framework service:

  • Open the run dialog box by pressing the Windows key + R altogether after clicking on the start button.
  • Press enter or click Ok, after typing the services.msc in the search box.
  • Right-click on the McAfee framework services and then click start.
  • Now restart the McAfee Auto update after closing the Service manager.

Restart McAfee Service:

  • Click on the start button and then find the McAfee from the program menu.
  • Select the VirusScan Console and then select the properties after right-clicking the Access protection.
  • Now tick the checkbox in front of the Prevent McAfee Services from being stopped and then click Apply.
  • Close the VirusScan console and then restart your system.
